Hi Wellsley Wave Families!

Way to swim, Wellsley Wave! We won our second swim meet! In case you missed it, we came away with a huge win, hundreds of personal best times were earned, the 8 & under boys broke both the Medley and Freestyle Relay records (wow!!!), and 2 team records were achieved in Boys 7-8 Backstroke and Breaststroke! Amazing job, Wave swimmers!

Have your swimmer bring a water bottle to practice! They are working hard and need to stay hydrated in this hot weather.

SWIM MEET: TUESDAY, JUNE 25

Our next swim meet is Tuesday, June 25 at Wellsley.

Arrival Time: 4:30 - 4:45 pm; warm-ups at 5:00; meet begins promptly at 6 pm

Volunteers: Please report to the meet director table by 5:30. There is a brief meeting for timers and officials at 5:45 at the meet director table.

Parking: As a courtesy to the guests, please DO NOT park in our parking lot. Park on Widdington or nearby streets (please pay attention to the signs. There is only parking on one side of Southwold to allow emergency vehicles and cars to pass by).

What to bring and reminders: A chair for parents to sit in, towel for the kids to sit on, extra towels, sunscreen, goggles/caps, water, snacks (concessions are available), and activities to keep your swimmer occupied between events. When swimmers aren't lined up for their turn to swim, they NEED to stay in their designated area with their kid pusher(s). No running around on the pool deck, please. Children are not allowed in the pool during the meet, so please stay behind the yellow rope. Parents, please help us with this! Reminder: absolutely noalcohol is allowed at TSA meets.

PARENTS: Volunteer assignments are visible in SwimTopia. Please download & use the app, check your assignments, and remember that we can’t do it without you!

RIBBONS

If your swimmer earned a personal best time or was in a main heat event or relay, their ribbons are ready to be picked up at the end of their swim pracice. Usually, they're available by the Thursday following the meet. The coaches will pass out the ribbons to the swimmers–please see a coach for assistance. Our ribbon coordinator would appreciate it if your swimmer takes their ribbons each week in order to make room for new ones. Also, please ask your swimmers not to go into the boxes if they are wet. If your swimmer does not want ribbons this season, please let me know. Thank you!

SOCIAL EVENTS

• SNOW AT THE POOL!!! In lieu of movie night, we are hosting this fun event on July 8th from 6-7:30 pm.  Come and join us for a fun evening at the pool! Spend some time before or after evening practice helping us “chalk the walk” at the pool entrance to decorate for our last home meet the following day. The best part? We will have the snow cone machine going for the kids!

• Congratulations to the boys on their victory in the Boy-Girl Fun Meet. They’ve earned the trophy back, which is on display in the boys locker room at the pool. It was a fun day for everyone! Thanks to Jenni for organizing this amazing event and to all our volunteers.

JULY SWIM MEETS: VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!

We need more volunteers for each of our swim meets in July (Away July 2, Home July 9, Away July 16). Please update SwimTopia if you can volunteer.

If we do not have enough volunteers, we can’t run these swim meets! Please sign up now!

Every family must complete a minimum of 3 shifts to fulfill their requirement! We encourage you to fill extra shifts if you are able.

WAVE RETAIL

A self-service box with goggles, Wave branded caps, stickers and magnets is available at home meets. Cash and Venmo.

Wave T-Shirts will be available for pick-up (for those who ordered at registration) and purchase ($12) at Tuesday’s meet. Find Shannon Erklin near the Meet Director Table!
